A new GIS web map application, GeoPort, can help property owners and communities view the location of the integrated flood protection system including the flood storage basin lands.

If you own or lease lands in a Miami Conservancy District Flood Storage Basin(s), you may be required to apply for a Flood Storage Basin Permit to conduct certain land use activities.

This permit is required for activities that affect Miami Conservancy District rights in the flood storage basins.
Individual Permit:
  • Fill or earth moving work that reduces a basin’s storage capacity by an amount greater than the De-minimis Fill Volume of 100 cubic yards.
  • Any activity that violates a land use restriction held by the Miami Conservancy District.

General Permit:

  • Construction of, or improvments to, a non-habitable structure.
  • Parking Recreational Vehicles.
