🌊 Floodwaters stored, communities protected! This week, the Germantown Dam stepped up during the 8th high water event of the year.
🔹 When? The dam went into storage around 6 PM on Monday, December 16, 2024 and released water by 5 AM the next morning.
🔹 How much? It held back 410 acre-feet of water—equivalent to 100 million gallons!
🔹 Rank: This storage event ranks in the top 500 in the history of Germantown Dam events.
💧 The high water was caused by 0.75 to 1.75 inches of rainfall over 72 hours, primarily in Butler and Preble counties. While Germantown Dam was hard at work, no other Miami Conservancy District dams required storage, and river levels stayed below action stage.
The Miami Conservancy District flood protection system quietly does its job, keeping communities safe—year after year. 💪
